​How to Make Matcha

If you're ready to get drinking some of yummy stuff, here are some tips:

  • Don't mix matcha powder straight into boiling water - it tends to make it taste bad. Let the water cool down for a few minutes before stirring in the tea. 
  • To make a yummy mug of pure matcha tea, add in a 1 g of matcha powder to a cup of hot water and whisk!

Note: I find matcha to be a lot less strong than my green teas, which I tend to steep for a little while. Still, if you're used to lighter teas, the taste of matcha might come on a little strong. Give yourself some time to adjust and fall in love 🙂

Last Note: In case you're wondering, matcha green tea does contain caffeine - around 35mg of it for every 1 g of matcha powder.

Unless you're highly caffeine sensitive, this is low enough to avoid caffeine-related jitteriness or one of those coffee-caffeine crashes.

By comparison, an equivalent serving of coffee has around 250 mg of caffeine and black tea - the strongest of the teas - has around 100 mg.
